Kate Chaffer – Director, Culture Zone
Kate Chaffer is a Director with Culture Zone, an organisational development consultancy that has extensive experience across various industries partnering with clients to create people and cultures that flourish and operate at their best. With over twenty years experience, within the learning and development space she has developed a deep interest in what makes people and workplaces thrive, where people can be themselves, live their whole life, learn and develop, rise to challenges and become leaders that make people want to do their best work. Through constant research into new and progressive thinking and approaches, she is involved in crafting solutions that are hopefully practical and insightful. They like to have a sense of fun, work hard, spend time with family, friends and travel. She takes great pride and joy in working with a team of consultants that reflect a similar philosophy in life through shared values, sense of fun and a diversity in thinking and perspectives, to ensure that assumptions are constantly challenged. Kate’s belief that understanding our strengths as individuals and being mindful of our flaws can make for a life that is more creative and fulfilling and that is the goal that she and Culture Zone bring’s to their clients.
Prior to Culture Zone she spent 10 years with a top tier management consultancy, managing and implementing organisational change initiatives, learning and development functions/programs and human resources across the Asia Pacific region (as part of a Global team). In this capacity she was a key HR/OD partner internally to the consultancy group, and an adviser/coach/mentor for the Asia Pacific executive group, as well as the general consulting team. Before this over a combined period of 12 years, Kate worked in People and Culture within a professional services firms (PwC).
In her capacity as Director at Culture Zone Kate has works extensively with the team’s varied client based in executive coaching, facilitation, professional course design, leadership development and search. Kate works mostly with business professionals within organisations, assisting them to develop greater levels of self-awareness and assisting them with the articulation and achievement of personal and professional goals.
Development in the form of either coaching, self exploration or through professional workshops has long been a powerful force for transformation in people’s lives, and Kate believes in harnessing the best in people and inspiring them to live to their full potential and according to their natural strengths. She is a strong advocate in the science and research behind Positive Psychology and believes it provides a way to focus on strengths and develop the positive in people, rather than addressing weaknesses and problems. She also believes that women face unique challenges in the business world and along their career journey. Having the opportunity to address issues and challenges openly, through proactive insight, action and development as can help steer them on the path to success.
Kate has a Bachelor of Human Resources Management (majoring in Adult Education), Graduate Diploma in Counselling, and Certificate in Coaching (Dr Tony Grant, Sydney University), NLP Certified, Certified in administration of Emotional Intelligence Ability Testing (MSCEIT), certified in administration of Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI) and DiSC/MBTI/HBDI and a number of 360 leadership and culture diagnostics.
